Definately a must buy for collectors of old-school.
Years later when Sega announced that they would become a software-specific company after the fall of the Dreamcast, it became clear that Sonic would enter Nintendo's territory after nine to ten years of the Sega and Nintendo rivalry.
Mega Collection has seven Sonic games from the Genesis days (as well as some unlockable games when you progress with playing these games several times.) Sonic 3 is still my favorite Sonic game of all time. (And if that isn't enough, Sonic 2 and Knuckles and Sonic 3 and Knuckles are available after you unlock them. compare and contrast between the three.)
There are bonus features as well. Comic covers, artwork, and videos are displayed for all hardcore Sonic fanatics to enjoy the Sonic anthology. But where are the other Sonic games on the disc? Sega was going to put Sonic CD into the collection but decided to not put in Mega Collection mainly because "the compilation is focused particulary on Genesis Sonic games." (But Sega did however put the other Sonic games like Sonic CD on another compilation for the Gamecube years later.
If you missed out on past Sonic games during the 16-bit era or want to relive those memories, get it now. If not, you can wait (or get) all of the [upcoming] Sonic games on the Wii Virtual Console.
