A collection of Sonic games that is a must-own for any fan of the series.

User Rating: 9.5 | Sonic Mega Collection GC
Long have I wanted to play the old Sonic the Hedgehog games for the SEGA systems, but seeing as how I never owned a SEGA of any kind, I was unfortunately out of luck. I was excited to get a hold of Sonic Mega Collection, and was pleasantly surprised with the games it featured.

The Good:

- A solid collection of Sonic titles.
- Plenty of neat bonus features, including comics, movies and illustrations.
- More unlock-able games.
- The games play just as you would remember them on the Genesis or any other system.
- The collection includes digital copies of the original instruction manuals for each game.
- The conversion of the controls to the Gamecube controller is flawless. Then again, how can you mess up 4 directions and a single action button?

The Bad:

- Unlocking more games can be a pain. To unlock more games, you have to play the existing titles for a certain number of times. For example, you may have to play a certain game an excess of 50 or even 100 times to unlock another game.

In reviewing a collection like this, one must remember that the real essence of the game is in the individual titles itself. If you don't like Sonic games, this may not be a game for you. However if you do enjoy them, Sonic Mega Collection delivers your favorite classics with plenty of other features flawlessly. In all honesty, this should be a part of any Gamecube library.
