Just another Mario Kart clone?
Because instead of simply copying the Mario Kart blueprint, they chose to mix it with some F-Zero elements.
You choose a hero from the Sonic universe, categorized in three archetypes, and you have to race with a hooverboard on very diverse tracks. You can find a lot of jumps and shortcuts where you can go all-out F-Zero style.
By performing tricks, landing right, and riding in the slipstreams of faster opponents, you can get a boost. With the triggers you can slide trough bendy areas.
This all sounds nice. And I'm having a hard time to formulate where Sonic Riders falls short; I can't find any concrete mistakes. There are some fun elements and it's all done properly. It's a feeling.
This game doesn't give me any pleasure after a good hour of gaming
