This is Sonic in the environment he needs to be in for a spinoff... Not a pinball machine and not a party game. He needed a good racing game and oh my sweet Christmas he got it with Sonic Riders. The game has a storyline, but it sucks so we won't go into that. You can play as a load of the characters from the Sonic games and a couple from some other Sonic Team games, as well as the new Babylon Rouges, but whos gonna play as them? We came here for some hedgehog on hoverboard (or jetskates if you're using Shadow) action baby!

The gameplay is fast. BLAZING fast. The first time I played it I got dizzy after just one lap around Metal City! Its got all the speed a Sonic game should have and more.

For the first time since Sonic 3 came out on Genesis, Jun Senoue didn't have anything to do with the soundtrack. Though I do miss Jun's blazing guitar riffs and the amazing music of Crush 40, the other soundteam members and a band called Rumblebee carry the torch quite well. I will warn you, if you don't like techno, have the headphones ready, but even the most jaded music fans should appreciate the music in this game.

The downsides are the difficulty of the story mode levels... Ok just the Babylon Garden level, and there's no sound whatsoever in the CG cutscenes, but its a great game that no Hedgehog or racing fan should miss.
