An instant classic that does a great job of standing up to its 16 Bit counterpart!

This port of the original Sonic the Hedgehog offers almost as much in the ways of speed and thrills as the Mega drive version.
The Levels are slightly different in the master system/Game gear version, offering "The Bridge", "Jungle" and "Sky Base" as format exclusive levels.

The game isn't particularly hard, and you should be able to complete it easily within an hour. However there is also the added challenge of collecting the six chaos emeralds which are hidden in certain stages, so there is a small element of replay value.

The graphics aren't bad at all for a master system game, and the sound, whilst nothing revolutionary, still makes for some nice tunes to accompany you through the levels.

All in all i'd give this game an 8.8 out of 10 and would recommend it to anyone who owns a master system!
