The character that introduced me to the world of gaming. And now it's time to review him. Enjoy the show.
The story is your typical saving the world scenario, Robotnik watched too much Star Wars and decided to build something called a "Death Egg" and steal the Chaos Emeralds to power it so he can take over the world.
M Bison: "Of course!"
...that's $20 worth of copyright money for NC...ok where was I?
With all of this happening it's up to Sonic to save the day.
The gameplay is simple enough as well you get from A to B by running and jumping through platforming levels filled with enemies and obstacles whilst collecting rings which act as health because if get hit you lose all your rings, and if you get hit again with no rings you die, oh and there's a timer...no pressure. Along the way you'll encounter bonus stages where you can get a Chaos emerald. Get all 6 (there were 6 back then not 7) and you can become Super Sayai-uh-I mean Super Sonic and blast through the game whilst listening to Danger Zone: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d29g6DZPwYw&feature=related
And finally the music of this title is the best in the MegaDrive era of Sonic, yes I know it's called the Genesis in the USA, especially Chemical Plant Zone...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LYB7iLZNWE...so funky.
Now I know how annoying Tails can be in Sonic 2 but that's what the 2 player is for.
Anyways this is a game that for pure fun and nothing else. Why is there talking blue hedgehog? Who cares! Sonic 2 is available on a lot of console such as Xbox Live Arcade, PSN, Apple App Store, even Steam and it's for a very cheap price of under $5 so if your intrigued go pick it up. And Sonic right now is in very good hands at moment especially after great titles like Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations which i highly recommend.
So thanks if you read this and here's to another 20 years of Big Daddy!
