Ah, the great platformers of yesteryear. So many come to mind. Only a few really stick out. This is one of those games. Sonic 2 is probably in my top 10 games. This game is sonic's best outing rivaled only by the masterpiece that is Sonic CD (even witht the lame U.S. music). I mean you got Sonic, Tails, Egg Man, and a prototype Metal Sonic. I can't forget a special hedgehog influenced off a popular 'ballsy' anime at the time.

We used to play the vs. mode for hours. It really is one of the best multiplayers for a platformer. What was the deal with that Sonic 3 vs. mode? Did they forget what made the first one so great....anyways I can't say enough good things about this game. The music is pretty good too. Sky Chase Zone is arguably the best Sonic track ever!!

Its funny, I was reading a lot of U.K. reviews for Sonic CD (they got the original BGM for some reason) and many of them consider Sonic 2 to be the best Sonic. Go figure. This review doesn't begin to explain the love I got for this game. Sonic CD may be the masterpiece, but Sonic 2 tried first.
