Sonic returns in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 - but is it more of the same, or better?

I had a Sega Megadrive (genesis) when I was a kid. I had Sonic 1 and 2 - Sonic and Mario (on the NES of course) were my two main games I always used to play. I never had sonic 3 but it is very similar and it is very nostalgic.
The gameplay is pretty much the same as its predecessors, though there are a couple of new things in the environment you can play about with. Sonic is about speed - and there's plenty of it in Sonic 3. As usual you will have your spin move, your jump and then its up to numerous slopes and speed boosts to have you rushing through a level. The levels are well designed and often have more than one route. There are always bosses at the end of each level and they are both challenging and fun. If you do get a GAME OVER though, there is a trustworthy save system to make sure you can try again. The game gets quite hard in some points - the main enemies won't be a challenge but the environment and the bosses are usually fiendishly tricky.

Graphics are nice, the levels are well designed and have their own unique feel. You'll have ice, forest and many other environments to race through.

Music is good and fits the level you are playing. The sound effects all fit what Sonic is doing.

There is a basic racing game for multiplayer which isn't really that good.

Sonic is a great game which will have you coming back even after you have beaten it. Though it does feel like the other games, it has its own unique levels and some different gameplay mechanics. It is available for 800 Wii Points.
