One of the most underrated Sonic games.....and one of the most challenging...

Sonic had some awesome games back in the 90's and even though this game probably isn't as good as Sonic 1, 2, or 3, it's still a pretty good game. In fact, it's one of the most underrated Sonic games of all time.

The gameplay combines Sonic's normal gameplay with pinball. Your goal in every level is to collect all the chaos emeralds and then fight the boss at the end. The levels, of course, are giant pinball stages complete with flippers and a few bumpers. In the end, this game is really challenging. Probably one of the hardest Sonic games ever. Like most hard games, there's also not as many stages (only 5 I believe).

At the end of every stage, you'll get to play a bonus game. The bonus games are different pinball games. The first one, for instance, you have to destroy the capsules and free all the animals inside (featuring characters from the Archie comics and SatAM universe like Sally and Bunnie) then defeat Robotnik (who's flying from side to side the whole time). The bonus games can be fun but it's really annoying to control the ball. There's no tilt and the flippers are too far apart so if the ball rolls toward the middle, there's almost nothing you can do.

The sound is ok. Some of the music is pretty good and catchy and yet others are just ok. Plus, some other sounds have been replaced like the spindash.

Grphics aren't bad either but I've seen much better on the Genesis. It's nice and detailed as well as colorful.

Bottom line, this game is fun, very challenging and also one of the most underrated Sonic games ever. If you haven't played this game yet and are looking to expand your Genesis collection, you might want to pick this up and give it a try. You might like it.
