Sonic is a classic no matter how you look at it. Being Sega's claim to fame, this blue hedgehog definately took our hearts and our golden coins. At the time of this release I was still in grade school but I quickly understood the leaps and bounds that this game took over previous titles. I must admit that I never beat this one due to the sudden influx of sega games that I had to have, but one of these days it will come. Sound was pretty rad for 1991 and even though it's a side scroller, it did damn well of keeping my attention for the entire game. Graphics were break through, at least for a young child. The concept was okay but shows it's longevity by still remaining in the sequels even today. Long live Sonic. (For any of you who have read my reviews before you know I normally do a little shpeal at the end of each one, however I must refrain from furthering this ritual for personal reasons so don't be sad all it's still in my heart)
