Great game, but Highly overrated

Highly overrated I think those two words summed up this game in a nutshell. This game was touted to be a mario beater. That was something it could never live up to. The gameplay was fun, fast, and furious. The graphics were great. The sound was catchy. The hero was unique. It had all the makings of a great game, and it was. Nevertheless it was highly overrated. This game could not stand the test of time whereas most Mario games have. Endless debates were cast over this subject, but the debate, much like Sega's console prowess has ended, with the victor still triumphant, and the loser living in the victor's shadow. The best sonic game was Sonic CD and that was the only contendor to the throne. This game is solid and should be respected, but could never live up to the platforming giant it tried to.
