They almost got it right! Sonic Unleashed isn't the perfect Sonic game, but there's still so much fun to be had.
Story: Sonic Team didn't take the story too seriously this time around. Unlike in Sonic 06 when they attempted to make a deep story that ended up being pretty cheesy and generic. Sonic Unleashed is more lighthearted and humorous and that works well for Sonic. Sure the story sucks, it's the same predictable stuff that we've seen in a lot of in recent Sonic games. (The evil Dr. Eggman is up to no good and somehow summons an evil god-like monster that Sonic has to defeat.) But the story isn't very important in a Sonic game.
Graphics: I like the cartoony style of this one, it fits Sonic better than the realistic style of Sonic 06.
Soundtrack: This game had some great music. The final boss music was the best, it made the battle even more fun than it already was because the music was so epic. I did get tired of hearing the same battle music every time I fought an enemy as the werehog. But overall, the music was great and added to the experience.
Overall I'd give this game a 9.1. The daytime stages were so much fun that the boring nighttime stages didn't negatively impact my overall enjoyment of the game. I would've given it an even higher score if they took out the werehog stages and replaced them with more hedgehog stages.
