Totally cool. Defintely a fun game worth a try. The difference is night and day.
Graphics: The graphics in this game were AMAZING! I was blown away by the CGI graphics in this game! They were defintely very worked into!
Story: The game's plot goes like this. Eggman has managed to build ANOTHER massive fleet of ships in space, and Sonic goes to kick the crap out of him. Although Eggman attacks Sonic, he escapes by going Super and preattty much destroys everything. However, Eggman traps Sonic and uses the phallic spaceship f wonder to drain away the Chaos Emeralds power and fires a lazer at the earth. This unleashes the ancient beast in the center of the earth: Dark Gaia, and splits the planet into seven pieces. Eggman then sends Sonic back down to Earth, where he accidenlty lands on a dog like creature, that wipes away it's memory. Felling guilty, Sonic dubs it Chip and goes off to restore the Chaos Emeralds, stpo Dark Gaia, and find out who Chip really is. However, Eggman's ray has had a negative effect on Sonic, turning him into a werewolf like creautre at night.
Eventually, the truth about Chip is revealed. He is actually a being called Light Gaia [I wonder where Gray Gaia is], the loar opposite to Dark Gaia. While Dark Gaia destroys the Earth, Chip brings it back together, for millions of years they've done this [man, what a crappy destiny eh?]. Sonic helps Chip to restore the last Chaos Emerald, but Eggman isnt ready to give up. Attacking Sonic, they end up falling own a shaft into the Earth's core. Dark Gaia refuses to serve Eggman and knocks him back to the surface, and hen drains away the power of the werehog from Sonic. While Chip distracts Dark Gaia, Sonic goes Super Sonic and battles the beast. Assuming you dont die while playing as Sonic, he defeats the beast. However, Chip is not spared as he throws Sonic back to the surface of the Earth and seals both himself and Dark Gaia in the center of the Earth, but Sonic hears him say he wont forget Sonic and will be with him as a part of the Earth [right.....that doesnt seem g*y in the slightest]. Story is preaty good in my opinion. Bit of a bittersweet end, but eh? What you gonna do?
Voice acting: A complaint about this game is th voice acting, but I like it. Jason Griffth is getting better as Sonic, but then again, I've never really had a problem with Griffth [I am going to get SO slandered for that]. Amy Pallant is starting to sound like a boy with Tails. Lisa Ortiz returns as Amy, and is still preatty decent. Dan Green voices a university proffessor called Proffessor Pickle [now he's British. Is there anyone Dan Green cant voice?], and Chip is voiced by Anthony Solano, who many Yu-Gi-Oh! fans [like me] will remember as Manjoyome Jun in the dub version of GX, voicing him as his dub name Chazz Princeton [it' a good voice, just not what I was expecting. I thought Veronica Taylor or something].
Gameplay: In this game [or at least in my version of the game], there are many levels, based on real ife places. There's Apotos [based on Greece], Mazuri [based on Africa, if you dare to call this a level], Spagonia [based on Italy I believe], Holoska [based on Antartica..or somewhere cold], Chun-nan [based on China], Shamar [based on some desert place, from the map, it loks like Austraila], Adabat [based off Brazil or somewhere in South America I think], and Eggmanland [Eggman's theme park/evil lair/way to get attntion].
There are also two ways to play levels: day and night levels. During the day, you play as good ole Sonic, and basically blitz through the levels like a freaking maniac. Most of the day gameplay is preaaty staraightforeward: you're juts trying to get to the goal in a time limit.
But when night falls, gameplay turns topsey turvey. Because of Eggman, Sonic now cursibly transforms into a werewolf like beats called the Were-hog at night. Gameplay becomes more beat-em-up esque where you slash and slaughter numerous minions of Dark Gaia, and platformer esque where you must use the werehogs streachy arms to swing to far off platforms. The wrehog also picks up crates, which come into play preatty well during puzzles in Eggman land. I do prefer the day stages, but night was a nice touch.
Overall, Sonic Unleashed is a very average game. It meets the hype it deserves. Just some trivia, Jaret Radrick, the singer for Bowling for Soup, sung the game's theme, Endless Possibilities.
Final score: 8/10
Right then, I shall see you all next time for games I feel like ranting about when Im bored.
