I will review all 40 games in this (awesome) collection!

User Rating: 9.5 | SEGA Mega Drive Ultimate Collection PS3
Well, you saw the title let's start from the top then :

Alex Kidd in the enchanted castle :

Not that I've seen any castle in the game yet, first of let's me give you some brief, really brief, history about him, he was SEGA's old mascot before Sonic, he was a simple Mario clone who went around punching blocks to collect money. In this game you do the same thing, but in 16-BIT! Also you can compete in... Hold on to something : JAN, KAN, PON! ... Yeah, you know, Rock, scissor, paper... Cool huh? No? yeah, I know, I guess SEGA just wanted to add something Mario didn't have.

In these jan, ken, pon matches you battle over money and sometimes vehicles or other things. The vehicles makes alex invincible for some time but they also have their own abilities like make him jump higher or move faster.

Outside from jan, ken, pon the main game is all about to collect money so you don't die if you die in a jan, kan, pon match. So now maybe you think:

Pffft, so? I won't play Jan, ken, pon.

Hehe, wrong, you see, every boss in this game is a jan, ken, pon match. Yeah, every boss is LUCK BASED!

Yeah, this game is weak and also the jump system is weird, if you press B/X Alex jumps, as soon as you let go Alex does a jump kick move, this means if you don't want to use the kick you have to hold the button. It doesn't really matter, it just feels weird.

Next up, Alien Storm :

Eh, it's a beat em' up. If you played games like Golden axe or Streets of rage then you know what to expect here. The biggest difference is that sometimes you go into first person and blast the aliens and other times you're in a running stage where you're always going to the right and shoot enemies on the way, like a shoot em' up.

I don't have any problems with the game itself but rather the whole genre, you know when you're standing two pixels too high up and you hit nothing, annoying.

Altered Beast :

Hahahahahaha, this game is great, the great god Zeus commands you to rise from your grave and save his daughter. From there you go to the right beating up zombies, two headed hounds and other creatures. An other beat em' up, but this is the kind I like, no not because big, muscular men runs around in tight shorts, because you can't move up or down, it's just 2-D movement. The cool thing thought is the whole "Altered beast" thing, when have "Powered up" enough you change form into a beast like, a wolf, a bear and a dragon. This game is really short thought, 5 levels to be exact, the ride might be a short one but it's a good one, and you can play co-op so that TWO big, muscular men can run around in tight shorts.

The story of Thor :

Also known as "Beyond Oasis" this is more like a Zelda clone but what this game has that Zelda didn't have at the time is advanced combat. Sure you have the old stab, swing and spin around attack but you also have more like jump attacks, and more jump attacks. How ever I have problems with this game as well, it's the same problem I had with the original Zelda, your stab attack doesn't cover enough area, and that's annoying but the overall game is good I mean it's a successful clone of Zelda, then it has to be right?

Bonanza Bros :

Metal gear is now for sissies! Bonanza bros is THE stealth game we more sneaky gamers want to play. Not really, but it's fun since you can co-op and the overall stealthing is easy to learn so if find Splinter cell or Metal gear to complex, play Bonanza bros.

Columns :

It's Tetris but you align four colors instead of rows. If you like Tetris or Poyu pop, you'll like this.

Comix zone :

An other Beat em' up but this time inside a comic book. This game has some pretty funny humor in it and the combat is fun. However, there are a few things that bug me, first of, many times in the game you need to destroy boxes, fine or it would be if punching the boxes didn't hurt you! Sure, they do minimal damage but since your health doesn't regain after acts it get's pretty critical. Maybe it's just me, and I suck but just can't get past that. Still if you're up to the challenge, then knock yourself out.

Decap attack :

It's a platformer! A good one too, you're a mummy called Chuck D. Head who must bring the pieces of the world back together. You attack by jumping on your enemies or with your face, yes, you shoot out your face which defeats most enemies in one hit where you have to jump on them like three times for them to disappear. On your quest you'll run into potions that have different effects like make you jump higher, move faster, make enemies freeze and make you invincible. Fun little game, one problem, you move a little too fast and therefore will take many cheap hits.

Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine :

A POUY POP CLONE! But since I like Pouy pop I like this too, not much to say about this game other than it get's hard, really hard.

Dynamite Headdy :

This game is great, it mixes 2-D and 3-D in cool ways, has tight controls and a nice "story" there isn't really one you just go right and defeat a lot of interesting bosses on the way. The game's setting is pretty cool I haven't seen anything like it since Paper Mario thousand year door, it's a opera/theater setting and looks really fitting. Headdy is an other character who attacks with his face (or head, whatever) but unlike Chuck D. Head, Headdy can get upgrades like a time-stopper, or a spread head. The game plays really smooth and has a lot of nice touches and small jokes, all together a great game.

Ecco the dolphin :

Didn't I already review this game? I still think the same, it's boring and it doesn't get better how many times I even try to like it.

Ecco 2 : The tides of time :

It's Ecco one with better graphics and failed 3-D attempts.

E-SWAT :

Already reviewed this, and I still think this game is great.

Fatal labyrinth :

A pretty good RPG where you're trying to get to a dragon inside a big tower. And I mean TRY, this game is though. There are many things to think about in this game first of items you find can be cursed and when you equip them different things may happen to you, also you have a hunger meter if it reaches 0 your health will slowly go down but if you eat to much you won't feel well, you might even die.

Flicky :

DON'T PLAY THIS! Or at least turn the volume down, you'll thank me later. The game is about the birds in Sonic 3D blast called Flickies. You go, or slide, around and collect chicks while avoiding cats, sorry I meant tigers. Loose controls, horrible "music", don't play this.

Gain ground :

Sweet game, at first I didn't like it but then I got into it, you chose a character, then you hit the battle-ground. You win by killing all the enemies or go to the big, bright "EXIT" sign. On the battle-ground you can find new characters with special abilities, you collect them by escorting them to the exit or kill all enemies while he/she's following you. This game doesn't look like much but when you have a whole arsenal of characters to chose from it can get a lot of fun.

Golden axe 1,2 and 3 :

A beat em' up, and they try to have 3-D movement. except from the first one I don't really like these games. What these games have in common is that after every level you get to beat up small gnomes for magic power which you can use later. These games are more fun in co-op and you can even play against each other, fun. In the first game you play as either a dwarf, a warrior or a amazon female warrior, going around and kill a lot of monsters to get to the great monster king. In the second game, I have no idea I guess it's the same thing and you can play as the same characters from the first game. In the third game, the dwarf has quit because of age and your his apprentice this time you can be a panther instead of the dwarf. The only big difference in the games are the magic, you collect magic power to make your magics more powerful the characters all have a certain level they can reach while the dwarf (in the first Golden axe) only could reach level 3 the warrior could reach level 4 and the amazon warrior cold reach level 6. These games are a bit over-rated but still fun to play at least if you have a buddy to play with.

Kid Chameleon :

I really don't get why people love this game so much, the controls are almost like in Flicky and the enemies and item boxes are really small. The game is playable and more fun than Flicky, but I can't get into it. But I digress, here's the story :
All the kids are playing a cool new arcade game but somehow the game turns against the humans and trap them inside the game and now Kid Chameleon has to enter the game and save them. So the game is a typical platformer and just like in Mario you can jump on blocks to get power ups like a knight that can climb walls and have more health, a samurai that can jump higher and attack with his sword and a tank that shoots skeleton heads. As I said, the controls are really loose, but the rest of the game is pretty good.

Phantasy star 2,3 and 4 :

I can't really review these games because I don't understand the fighting system, sorry.

Ristar :

A platformer gem, this game is a wonderful platformer.
You are Ristar, the son of a ancient hero. You have been awakened by a distress call that the solar system needs you and now you must travel through 7 planets and save the solar system. You attack by grabbing enemies and then you give them the kiss of death... Not really, you launch at them and tackle them. A fun platformer with many different themed planets and cool bosses. I don't really have anything against this game except that some bosses are pretty though, but hey, that's just a good challenge.

Shining force 1 and 2 :

Haven't played the second one yet since I haven't beaten the first one. This is a RPG that feels a bit like Fire emblem, meaning you control a squat of characters in turn-based combat. The story is that the Dark dragon has awakened again and now you must lead The Shining force to stop him from taking over the world! There's not much else to say then that if like a good strategy game you're going to love this game. (the second one plays just like first one.)

Shining in the darkness :

Sounds familiar? Well, this was the start of Shining force. Before Shining force was a turn-based RPG it was a dungeon crawler. You know, you go around in a maze in first-person and encounter enemies that you fight turn-based. Unlike Shining force, in this game you're after a villain called Dark Sol who has kiddnaped a princess, your father has gone after Dark Sol to get her, but he hasn't come back. Now you must fight through dungeons and mazes to find Dark Sol and the princess and hopefully your father. You can have a group in this game to but only a group of three. This game can get boring since your'e just walking around in a bland maze but I found it pretty good.

Shinobi 3 : return of the ninja master :

This game is awesome, as a ninja you can throw kunais at your enemies or if they are close slash them with a kunai. You can also use different ninja arts that can make you stronger or jump higher (does that sound familiar?). there are also riding levels where you are on a horse or a... surf board but what makes this game great are the awesome bosses. They can be anything from a demon samurai or a robot controlled by a human brain. This game is full of pure ninja action and I promise you, you will like it too.

Sonic 1, 2 and 3 :

If you haven't played these games, shame on you. You should know what Sonic games are about but in case you don't I'll make it short, Dr. Robotnik has kidnapped all the animals and turned them into robots now Sonic must stop him.

Sonic spinball :

It's pinball, but with Sonic, it's not that good...

Sonic 3D blast :

This game is a wanna-be 3-D game, the controls are bad and the bonus stages are too easy. But still, this game IS playable and I actually kind of like it.

Streets of rage 1, 2 and 3 :

Just like golden axe these games have somewhat 3-D movement but I like these games better since the hit detection is a bit wider so you can be 2 pixels above your target but still hit, great! The streets have all been taken over by some gang members controlled by som gang boss and now you must take up the fight with the gangs and clean the streets... the streets of RAGE. What's different about the three games is that in the first game you could call for back-up, a police car will come by and blast the area with a rocket launcher, sweet. Also the first game has multiple endings but the second game is still seen as the best, probably because it's so smooth the game just feels right unlike the third game, it's not bad it's just not as good as the second game, first of Axel doesn't look like a former cop anymore he looks more like Ken from Street Fighter and the game doesn't look like it's set in the down town of a slum anymore. Still the game is fun to play but the second one takes the crown.

Super thunder blade :

It's like Space Harrier just that you can move as good.

Vectorman 1 and 2 :

Mankind has left Earth since it's so dirty, in their place they left robots to clean the planet but one day one of the robots snaps and starts a war on Earth, now Vectorman who has just returned from the sun after throwing away some garbage must stop the evil robot and his army. That's the story to the first game, this game is like any other platformer except you can't jump on your enemies to kill them, you have to shoot them, you can collect different kinds of beams, but they are just temporary.

In Vectorman 2, Vectorman is on his way to the sun again when he get's shot down and crashes on an alien planet populated by giant bugs, now you must fight for a way out. This Vectorman is a lot more fun than the first one sine you can take DNA some enemies like scorpions and get their tail for some time. Both games plays the same are a lot of fun.

That's all the Genesis/ Mega Drive games there are some arcade/ Master system titles in there :

Altered beast

Tip top

Shinobi

Zaxxon

Fantasy zone

Space Harrier

Alien syndrome

Phantasy star

Golden axe Warrior

But I won't review them since I'm lazy. Anyway, this collection is great and you should get it. If you read all of this I appaulad you.
