Another Nippon Ichi SRPG, that is a neat mix in its own way

User Rating: 7.5 | Soul Cradle: Sekai o Kurau Mono PS2
If you like the SRPG's Nis America makes, Soul Nomad is a good change of pace from the very popular Disgaea-style game. Instead of controlling individual units, you put them into squad groups, and the tactical elements come from the many possibilities of how you can arrange units in squads. There are three rows, front, middle, and back. Attacks used are based on their position in the squad, and hence combat is deep and complex.
Soul Nomad, despite its welcome differences and uniqueness may be rather difficult to get into. the learning curve is rather large, and the game only becomes truely enjoyable once you figure out what you are doing, which can take a while for the new player.

Gameplay 8- A welcome spin on a tactical RPG mechanics. You can still do most anything in combat, and you can fight and kidnap people from the various towns you visit. This is also a good way to make lots of money, since doing evil deeds grants you a lot of favor with the evil god residing in your body.
Graphics 7- Same graphics and sprite design other Nis games use.
Sound 7- Almost every battle uses the same music, like always the voice acting is great from this publisher.
Replay Value 7- RPG completionists will find lots to keep them busy.
Fun Factor 8- Once you get past the initial learning curve and how to deal with the many menus, the game opens up and gets to be quite enjoyable.

My Final Score- 7.6
