Easily the best fighting game ever.
Soul Calibur 3 is the same fighting game everyone's loved, x2. This game has tons of new features, which only add on to the fun of it. Most noteably is the Chronicles of Swords mode, which lets you create your own character and use him to unfold the story (which is laughable, I admit), and unlock a whole bunch of stuff doing so. The feature could've used more on the map portion, but the fighting portion easily makes you ignore that This brings me to the create a character, which only makes this game better.
In the create-a-fighter mode, you're pretty limited with the choices of clothing, but the ability to change color, face color, and everything compensates for that, annnnyway, as you play more soul calibur, you unlock new character jobs, more clothing, and more new ways to make your character look awesome.
The Soul Arena mode is virtually a collection of mini games you try to complete in order to unlock new items, get more money, and a lovely completetion bonus. Some missions include coin collecting, the cool Smash game, and my favorite the Dancing Statue, which puts you against Colussus, a giant stone version of Spartacus, quite the fun fight.
The story mode, is actually a character based story mode. Unlike Soul Calibur 2, you get a more in-depth story of each character, as you move from point to point in a sort of picture book way. There are some annoying interactive cutscenes that make you push a button, or button combination that pops up. These are either painfully easy, or annoying as hell. Either way, the story has definately improved since Soul Calibur 2
The graphics, the graphics. What can we say? They're the same as Soul Calibur 2 so they're great. The fighting, too, is like the other Soul Caliburs, focusing more on timing than cheap button mashing, though there are very cheap moments in that game.
Soul Calibur 3 is a MUST for ANYONE. Even those that despise fighting games, as the tutorial is in depth, and can make even the suckiest players godly. With the new creation mode, you can spend hours trying to make your character look extremely ridiculous, or extremely awesome. Soul Calibur 3 is easily a no-contest for the best fighting game as the many different things to do can keep you busy for days, and let's not forget the great fighting system to top it off.
