When I first saw the Space Empires Franchise, I was little attracted by it. it was 7 seven years ago, and the game was Space Empires III. Countless hours have passed since then, and I still play SEIV time to time. The first thing you notice when playing Space Empires IV, is the "quick start" option. You might wonder, why do I need a quick start option? Because this game is simply huge. 20 races to choose, each one with a lot of different custom options gives the word "re-playability" a full new meaning. Alas, there is even an option to make people respond to certain events such as war or diplomacy. Every aspect of this game is moddable, and by the way there are a lot of mod designers out there. This Deluxe set comes with an extra folder with many of the best "mods" available on the net. You can even download a mod to use Star Wars ships into your SEIV galactic warfare! But the aspect that really appealed me to this game and makes it a true jewel, is the design option. When you need ships, you can either place a minister to design them for you, or you can go ahead to the design room and imagine like a true Lennon man. A transport to move your wares across the galaxy, the last generation weapons to your new battle cruiser, a humble mine layer, a spy satellite, a boarding ship, a supply ship, dog-fighters, planet bombers, stealth fighters, planet-capturing troops, almost every space artifact you've dreamed of, you can design and construct it here. I could keep going and going, but as I stated before, this game is BIG. You can replay it with new ideas / races and there will be always something new. If you enjoy management games / turn based jewels, SEIV is a must have. Thumbs up!
