I love the original Space Harrier on the Master System, but my machine barely turns on anymore, so I though I'd invest in a virtual copy of the sequel for my Wii. Regarding gameplay, Space Harrier 2 is virtually identical to the arcade/Master System original; however, the classic atmosphere of the franchise is partially lost in the translation to Genesis, with the updated 16-Bit graphics seeming to work against the retro 'scaling effect' visuals. Its an early Genesis title, and the abilities of the system are untapped, to say the least. Yes, sir, Space Harrier 2 has its share of flaws, enough in fact to justify anyone who isn't a fan of the series to not purchase this game. But, if you are, as I am, a fan of the series, Space Harrier 2 is worth owning, though its a high tag at eight bucks.
