Too Frustrating to be Fun For Long

To start this review out, let me say that I was really looking forward to this game; I love the "Get Even" idea of being the invaders, but actually playing the game is just too frustrating for me to recommend it to anyone. Specifics:

-Give me a health meter over a timer any day, please. Having a timer that takes a hit every time my ship does, while also constantly ticking down on its own, means that I can get to the end of a stage and still never finish it. Repeatedly. Not fun.

-Add to the above that the game uses "waggle" while leaving half of the Wiimote buttons unused, and no options for customizing the controls... you can only cycle through weapons in one direction, which would be fine if there were only 3 or so, but there are more, and it simply takes too long to get the one you want... and it sucks even more if you go past it and have to cycle through again! Replenishing Invaders requires shaking the controllers and losing sight of the cursor AND not being able to move while being attacked. Add in the fact that the timer is in the top left corner while Invader supply is in the bottom right, and it's a lot to try to keep track of while under fire...

-It's both a blessing and a curse that Get Even is purchasable in installments. Good: it's only $5 to try the game and get an idea whether or not you will like it. Bad: on any other system, the demo would have been free to try...

Overall, the frantic gameplay would be a lot of fun if the controls were streamlined or at least customizable, but I cannot forgive a game for making me waggle when there are buttons unused on the controller. I actually think Get Even would be better suited for the DS, where the touch screen could be strictly for gameplay while all the stats are on the top screen.
