Games and Spidey Go Together Like Pools and Blow Up Beach Balls!
You play as Spidey himself, and the game opens with a great tutorial, and the entire thing is narrated by the narrator from the first game (love him or hate him, he's here to stay). This guy generally bugs you rather than hels you, by insulting your intelligence if you can't do something, and interupting the tutorial time and time again. He'll eventually go away, but you can still get tips off him by interacting with hint markers all over the city. The game follow the plot line from the movie, and also has several story lines which give some variety. Though it is still linear, the game gives you a feel that your constantly are saving New York from trouble. The game offers side missons, which are either randomly happening, or you activate them. Green missions are started by talking to someone on the street, and you can't back out of these. Purple missions are completely random, and you can ignore them and swing by, which helps because their isn't much variety to these. But, it helps to do any missons if you succeed, you can spend Hero Points at a store to get more Spidey powers, which include new combos, more web attacks, and other abilities which are insanely fun to use. Most of the actors reprise their roles for the game, and anyone who's not an actor, does a brilliant job at voicing the characters, though Spidey's catchphrases and semi-witty remarks can become annoying as hell, but that's expected of any superhero game. The graphics aren't the best, but you won't notice it too much because the game is just so insanely fun. The music is exactly like the movie, and will always start playing exactly when you need it. My favourite aspect of the game, is that you now swing off buildings, instead of shooting web at the invisible ceiling Spidey games are normally notorious for.
In simple, Spider-Man 2 is a great game, and is recommended to anyone who is going to waste $100+ on Spider-Man 3. Spidey 2 is a great game, with some fun combos and it gives you the true Spider-Man experience.
