Wow. there is very little that they could have added to this game to make it better than the awsome game it already is.
Let's get the bad stuff out of the way first. The games biggest problem is it's sound. the punching and web sounds are just fine. but the voice acting could not have been worse. Not even the voice of Toby (the actor for spiderman in the movies) could save this disaster in the voice acting. with only a few lines in the entire game, they could have greatly improved on the script. Spiderman's jokes (which was had gotten the comic books sold in the first place) are few and rarely funny. The only other "big" problem is the graphics. even at the time that this game was created, teh graphics were still poor.
but all of this can be overlooked by the FABULOUS gameplay. They couldn't have done the web-swinging better. after you beat the game, you can spend hours and hours simply swinging around the enormous city and solving minor crimes, or just plain having fun. The game is missing some of it's old content. Such as the the web bubble and the impact webbing that acually HURT people. but the fighting was done pretty well. needless to say the replay value of this game is well worth it. as you level up spiderman he becomes stronger, faster and learns a VAST amount of moves. My personal favorite is the ability to hang up the bad guys on light posts and traffic lights.
Even with it's shortcomings, spiderman 2s web swinging mechanics make the game worthwhile. and certainly deserving the invesetment. forget whatever you know about spiderman games, and give this one a try.
