Time to kick ass with Spiderpig..I mean Spiderman

Before the jump to 3D in the 90's, most spiderman games where mediocre platformers, like "Spiderman: Return Of The Sinister Six" on the NES. Fortunately, Spiderman on the Playstation is nothing like that. Instead of relying on jumping, Spidey now relies more on his web-shooters and his fighting skills.

In this game, Doctor Octopus has a plan to take over New York by summoning some slimy alien creatures called "Symbiotes". He has got help from lots of Spiderman's foes like Rhino, Carnage and Mysterio.

So anyway, you start the first mission where your objective is to get to a bank where a bank robbery is currently in progress. In order to get to the bank, you'll have to swing across from building to building. You can't go down on the ground, since Doc Ock has released some sort of yellow fog on the streets of New York. "How boring" you might say, but are you really expecting Spiderman to walk on the ground instead of swinging from building to building? Then, why does he have his powers?

On your way through the levels, you might encounter Henchmen and other types of small-time thugs. It's now time for the webhead to fight. The combat controls are simple, the square button punches, the O button kicks and the triangle button shoots web. This isn't the only attacks you can execute, however. For example, if you press triangle and down at the same time you can pull your opponent towards you and if you press O and square at the same time you can grab you enemy. Since the controls are so great, you will have a great time beating down bad guys and swinging from building to building.

Every level doesn't take place on the rooftops. Some of them are set in and indoor environment which adds some nice variety in the game, although I personally feel that there might be to many of them.

There's also a lot of stuff to do in this game even after you've beaten it. You can look for hidden comic book covers, practice your Spidey-skills in the training room or you can just play the game over again. (Maybe on a harder difficulty this time)

Even though most of Spidey's older games where bad (in my opinion) this game stands out, and it's still a fun game. If you can get your hands on it, I'd say just buy it!
