Ummm, this may be the worst game i've ever played.

Spider Evader, released September 2009 to XBIG (xbox live indie games), is a game of enormous difficulty in the form of movement to escape death, in the same vein as games like The Impossible Game and Soul. Unlike those games, however, you have neither a timed-memory button push or visceral graphical images to cling to. Instead, Spider Evader is hard for the wrong reasons.

To understand the issue of difficulty, first let me describe the controls as hard to predict. Since your buzzing fly will drop due to gravity, you must constantly push forward to proceed while flicking the up direction to stay afloat. This is a tremendous issue since the levels require you to avoid any contact with the web-walls to survive. This alone can be a challenge. However, during key moments in each level, entire sections of the level are blocked off from view, such that you fly for periods of time (all the while trying to guess where you are as you flick the controller up, attempting a straight line even) without being able to see anything. Of course, going off track even a bit requires a level restart, and you'll do this over and over and over.

Of course if you make it far enough, you'll be in store for a big scare (perhaps a spider????). Please, if you want to abuse yourself and your money by wasting it on a game that uses difficulty as an excuse for mustering persistance, try beating your head into a wall, since that amounts to the same thing, and then when you look in the mirror you'll get a scare from the shape of your forehead. it's pretty much the same thing.

Nuff said.
