A disgrace to the Spyro series

User Rating: 2 | Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly (UK) PS2
I use to be a fan of the Spyro games. I even grew up playing them. I really enjoyed the Spyro series for the playstation back when they were developed by the talented team called Insomniac Games. But unfortunately after the third Spyro game, Insomniac stopped making the series and sold the Spyro license so they could begin another series. After a mediocre Spyro for the GBA game was made by another development team, it wasn't so bad and I didn't think much of it because it was only a GBA game. Then the first console Spyro for the PS2 was being made and by a different team called Vivendi Univeral Games. As a fan of the Spyro series at the time I even put it on my Christmas list(I feel bad for my parents who wasted their money on it). Anyways when I got it I didn't check any reviews or anything, I didn't know how the game was. So when I played it, right away, I knew something was wrong. First all of the graphics were terrible, the graphics didn't even look any better then the PS1 games. The sound effects were also very bad. It was way too quiet and it just sounded crappy. The voice acting was also very bad and cheesy and while voice acting has always been cheesy in the Spyro games, it was the absolute worst in this game. Now here's were it started to get really bad. While the game controlled like the older Spyros, it was just very dull and boring. The levels were very small, the A.I was messed up and there was constant slow down. When I played for 20 minutes the game already said I had 17% completed. I also realized this game was really short. I'd say about 3-6 hours. The older Spyro games were probably 10 hours longer then this one. They had twice as many levels and worlds as this one. If I can remember correctly, this game only had 10 levels, opposed to the older ones that had 25-30 if not more. This game also only had one world. I remember that Spyro 3 had I believe 4-5 worlds. Overall this game was very short, it had crappy and boring gameplay, The voice acting was horrid. What's worse is the game felt like it was for 5 year olds. While I might have out grown the Spyro series, I can easily say the older ones were very well made. They might have been a little childish but I had a lot of fun playing them. They are playstation classics and I will always remember them. Now as for Enter the Dragonfly. I will remember it as the game that ruined the Spyro series, after this game I have never played a Spyro game again. After a week of owning this game, I sold it to Gamestop to never see it again. This game was just poor quality and I wonder if the develoment team that made this game tried to make it bad. This is not only the worst Spyro, it's also one of the worst games I have ever played.
