The game that started it all, at least before Enter the Dragonfly tore it down.

User Rating: 8.4 | Spyro the Dragon PS
In Spyro the Dragon, you take the role of the small purple hero as you plunge into a fantasy-filled world that is filled with plenty of baddies and treasures. The story is: Gnasty Gnorc has put a spell on all of the almight dragons which imprisoned them all in crystal statues, but there was a problem, one dragon survived. With the aid of his dragonfly sidekick Sparx, Spyro enters a world where he is the only good guy who must take down Gnasty Gnorc's men in order to save his frozen comrades. The gameplay is fun and easy to master. The combat system is pretty straight forward, ram enemies with your horns or burn them with your fire breath. The graphics may be a bit off, but they were good when the Playstation was at its prime. The voice acting is pretty well done, especially Spyro's. Boss battles are actually fun and you can take them down pretty quickly. Yet, once you have beaten 3 worlds, you usually get so bored of the game that the only thing keeping you going is the need to take down Gnasty Gnorc. The most memorable enemy, I believe, are those annoying thieves with the stolen dragon eggs. They can make you so frustrated and so determined to shut them up that they are instantly the most recognizable enemy in any game.
