With over the top tricks, great visuals, and an excellent soundtrack, SSX is one of the greatest games ever.
But all that is reminiscent of the previous games. The biggest addition, is the open world. Yes, a snowboarding game has an open world. You can just ride down the mountain without participating in the various race and trick events. The mountain consists of three peaks, and it is about a 20-30 minute ride from the top to bottom. Along the way, the player encounters collectibles and some fun challenges.
Through events you can earn money, which can be spent on stats, but also clothing and various accessories. The characters are all very customizable.
The visuals are also stunning, looks great even by today's standards. And supporting it all is a stellar soundtrack with the likes of Basement Jaxx and Fat Boy Slim. The music goes well with the riding: fading out at times during insane tricks, coming back upon landing.
It's hard to see any fault in this game.
