An amazing game, that you would have to be CRAZY to hate.
Game play 9 1/2/10
A big majority of Star Fox 64 is On-Rail shooting, and a minority is....how can I explain it.....flying in all directions.....shooting? What ever! You know what I mean!
There are 14 scenarios that you can play, each can be reached by accomplishing certain tasks, such as shooting 100 enemies, or shooting all the search lights, that sord of thing. Failing these objectives will lead you to a different scenario, (I'm just going to call it a planet from now on) but accomplishing them will lead you to another; but if you complete the task, but want to go to the planet that is approached when you fail, no need to worry! you can just choose to change course.
You can only play 7 out of the 14 planets in one play through, so you have to to play multiple times to go to the other planets.
Controls 10/10
The controls are very simple and comfortable, so a fledging person can easily get use to them. There is basically no flaws in the control scheme.
Graphics 8/10
Very great graphics for an N64 game. No really, I mean it. The graphics are very smooth and are easy on the sensitively well designed human eye.
Music 10/10
The music in this Shoot-'Em-up video game was composed by the one who composed the sound track for The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time! So the sound track for this game is equally great. Every tune is completely different from the next, and they all sound remarkable! Good job Koji and Hajimi!
Sound Effects 9 1/2/10
This is one of the first N64 games that is fully voiced! Virtually every character is voiced (except the raccoon XD) and they all sound great!
Replay Value
There is quite a bit of replay value in this cartridge; replaying the game so you can get to the other planets, beating yours, or somebody else's high score, getting medals, and the Vs. Mode. But let's not forget that urge you get when you want to replay the game over and over again!
Cons
There's one thing I didn't like about this game. There isn't a mode that allows you to play every single planet in chronological order, that includes merging Venoms 1 & 2. There really should of been. It could of been an unlockable, but hey, no game is perfect.
