Star Fox Adventures would be decent, but is ruined by linear progression, a poor cast of characters, and a weak plot.

This game would be a strong game if it succeeded in capturing the interest of the audience. However, a linear plot and gameplay fail to engage the player into the game. While the gameplay is strong, with a good blend of puzzles and fighting, the player has limited room to explore. Additionally, no real sidequests exists. The second problem with this game is that the plot itself is rickety and weak. This may be a biased opinion but the majority of the characters act inaccurately to how they acted/spoke in previous Star Fox games, and the new characters, such as Krystal and Tricky, tend to be tedious to be near. The soundtrack to the game is also weak, with no memorable melodies or tunes. The battle system wasn’t particularly strong either, although there was nothing wrong with it. All these negative factors mixed to produce an all-round poor game. On the positive side, the graphics were quite good and the game took a reasonable amount of time to complete. The game was also a good difficulty. I experienced no major problems with controls. So if you enjoy puzzles and fighting, and do not particularly care how linear a game may be, how inaccurate this game is to its previous games, and the plot has little importance to you, you may enjoy this game.
