its zelda foxeized

Let me start off by saying the combat in SFA is very similar Zelda; as I mentioned before, but the targeting is done automatically, which may throw people off at first but after fifteen minutes you’ll get the hang of it.

One of the coolest parts of the game by far though are the Arwing levels that occur when ever Fox is moving on to the next level. Fans of Starfox 64 are instantly going to be familiar with this style of game play. The only problem is that these intermissions are way too short, those levels end just as your getting warmed up.

The land tasks are another problem…. Unlike the Arwing levels that are too short, some of the tasks that Fox must do are very repetitive and some times just a little too much. Mostly the tasks consist of series of puzzles that get old quickly. Sure there’s help but do you really want to listen to Peppy and Slippy, repeat the same programmed gargle every time you enter the menu to ask them for advice, not to mention the complete lack of direction that some of the puzzles leave you.

Another problem (I’m almost done) is the serious lack of enemy diversity, you have your little sharpclaws, your big sharpclaws, some really annoying flying enemies that seem to only attack you when you are climbing out of water, and the extremely annoying I-only-come-out-of-the-ground-enemies. With something as cool as dinosaurs I was hoping for a little more diversity (that word again) with the enemies. A real shame really. But that’s not my biggest pet peeve with this game, only a couple of bosses….. Ouch!

In a Action/Adventure game Boss fights are an extremely important element to this often over crowded genre. I won’t tell you how many, but the few bosses you do fight are presented very well and all have very different strategies for defeating them.
