One of the first action adventure titles I've played turns out to be one of my favourite games of all time.
So the games a Zelda clone and involves you playing Fox McCloud as you attempt to put Dinosaur Planet back together. It's a simple premise but one thats told with care, humour and plenty of over the top voice acting. The game does a good job of immersing you in this prehistoric world, filled with vibrant characters and music that perfectly sets the mood for the various locations.
The gameplay is similar to Zelda but the developers have enough neat ideas to separate it from its inspiration. For example Fox has a little Dino companion who can assist him in various situations. You can even play fetch with him using a squeaky ball. The combat is simple but satisfying and there's plenty of additional gameplay moments to break up the adventuring.
Graphically Starfox Adventures still holds up as one the best looking games of the last generation. The world Fox explores is beautifully detailed and contains fantastic lighting and water effects that makes the world more immersive. Fox himself is made up of individual hair strands and it looks great.
Overall Starfox Adventures will take 12 hours to finish but players can easily replay the game again and again to relive the adventure. This game is a fantastic action adventure title that I highly recommend. Sure I'm biased but theres no denying that Rare went out strong when they left Nintendo.
