A very fun game.

I'm going to start with complaints. The dialogue was some of the worst I've ever seen or heard. One person will say something and then the rest of the group will say "You're right" and "Yes" and "I agree." It's extremely redundant to the point of wishing there were a "fast forward" button. The graphics are not bad and in fact during the whole game I never had a complaint about them, but in retrospect I think they weren't the best. Some battles are so difficult to the point of throwing the controller at the machine and then jumping up and down on them until there is nothing but pieces of what used to be the source of your anger... never happened. My final and most obvious complaint is the distance between towns. You'll run 20 yards and you'll be in the next town and they make it sound like it was a difficult task or dangerous in some way.

Okay enough of the "bad" comments and on with the rest of the game. The gameplay is some of the funnest I've ever had. I just love the battle system. The invention concept was extremely fun and the map completion concept was completely new to me although I only finished two or so. The battle trophies concept was pretty fun and I got just enough to change the character colors. The music was nothing to complain about though it's nothing that I'd rave about either. The voice acting, if you can ignore the dialogue controlling it, is pretty good. I replayed it once or twice although I am disturbed by the fact of how short the first disc is and the game's overall length was pitifully short for a Square game, since Final Fantasy X lasted well over 100 hours on one game. Oops, that was a "bad" comment. Oh, well. This game is just plain fun and I enjoyed every (well, while looking at my battered PS2, I must say "almost every") minute of it.
