It made my PSP cry
The majority of the action in Tactical Assault consists of simply circling your enemies (rather slowly) and trying to attack the same portion of their shields again and again. I often found that the best way to defeat a group of enemies in a mission was to play the mission over and over until I just got lucky and didn't sustain too much damage to continue on. The story is forgettable. In fact, I really can't even remember anything about it, and I wasn't ever convinced by the game that I should even care about what was going on. A game with such simple and repetitive gameplay should at least make a good faith attempt at drawing players in with a sense of involvement. I recommend this game about as much as I would recommend the continued regurgitation of the phrase "almost but not quite" by Gamespot users in their reviews. Said catchphrase, much like the gameplay in Tactical Assault, quickly becomes so trite that I find myself yearning for the sweet sweet relief of death.
Unless you are an avid Star Trek collector that absolutely must obtain all things with the two words "Star Trek" printed on them, pass up this game and spend your cash on a big bottle of the cheapest liquor you can find. It will almost certainly leave you feeling less buyer's remorse, and the headache probably won't be nearly as severe.
