Star Trek Tactical Asaault PSP
Initial Impressions:
High quality intro with Captain Kirks Monologue, very crisp brightly lit animation.
You are then treated to the menu with the Enterprise in orbit with Asteroids flying by (excellently animated)
If you select New Game you enter the bridge and I must say that the Navigation animation on the Bridge is incredible, when you move to different stations it is rendered perfectly. You have the option to go to the Ships Database (when selected it is like you walk to the station SWEET ANIMATION)
You also have the option to go to a crew upgrades station (again I don't want to sound like a broken record but it is really a neat sight to see)
The game loads very quickly as well, it was a nice touch as you are treated to some Star Trek Ships images and quotes from the TOS series and the Trek Movies.
In game the Ship Movement feels like you are maneuvering a Big Ship, and it's not sluggish, unless you are moving really slow. The controls are responsive and very easy to navigate.
The music has a distinct Star Trek feel, I agree completely with the decision not to make you control already known Star Trek Characters, its more immersive to put you in your role as a new captain.
I enjoyed the quality of the game manual, but found the tutorial equally enjoyable. It tells you what buttons to press and when to push them. It also gives some initial tactical hints. The game feels true to the Star Trek Universe.
I must say I really like the rendered look of the Characters.
I am only starting out but so far this game does not deserve ANY of the Negativity that has been given mainly by biased professional reviewers.
So Far on a scale of 1-10 I would rate the game as Graphics 9
