Battle Front scores a huge victory. FOR THE REPUBLIC!!

After playing the fantastic Battlefront 1, I found myself wanting more despite the game's awesomeness. Wtih the release of Battlefront 2, those gaps have been filled 10 fold. At the risk of not sounding very cool, I say the force is definitely with this game. Offering the same great squad based shooter as last year, Battlefront 2 brings hero characters and a good pack of new maps to the table. Hero characters are, for the most part, excellent. They provide that crucial "catch up" factor to a floundering army, and the arrogant nail in the coffin for those who have already dominated the field. Plus, its just an awesome feeling slicing through enemy squads as Obi Wan, or gunning down corridors full of troopers with Han Solo. These heros are not overpowered, giving a crucial balance element to the gameplay, but some feel a bit weak (Boba Fett in particular is horribly unremarkable). The only other grievences I have with Battlefront 2 is, one, the AI, though rather dumb, can get a bit overwhelming in sheer numbers, a frustrating aspect for those trying to jump back in the game after a spell of hybernation sickness. Also, the space battles, though an interesting diversion and fun in their own right, are a bit repetative and difficult, and are by far the most disappointing new feature. Still, with improved graphics and single player, not to mention great sound and the almighty hero characters, Battlefront 2 rises above its predecessor to offer more galactic shoot em up.
