Although a highly addictive game, Battlefront 2 lacks some of the replay value of the outstanding original.

User Rating: 8.8 | Star Wars: Battlefront II PS2
Overview-
The game starts you off with the main title screen reading: Single Player, Multiplayer(online), Split Screen and options. The Single Player mode, when selected, brings up the following: Tutorial, Space Overview, Rise of the EMpire, Galactic Conquest, and Instant Action. Although many of the hardcore fans of the original Battlefront(like myself), may be turned of by the new Campaign mode, Rise of the Empire offers players the chance to play as the infamous 501st division of soldiers who fight in the clone Wars and eventually are under the command of Lord Vader.

Gameplay-
The gameplay in BF2 is just as solid and addicting as it's original, and even improves upon most of it's great gameplay. First off, when starting, you will immediately notice a change in the interface on the screen, but fear not hardcores, this new display offers seamless transition from the old addition. The same moves are implemented into BF2(rolling, dodging) with the exception of a stamina meter that allows you to sprint now. As well, the knife is double-edged. Gone is the ability to roll around the levels(come on, admit it-you did it too), for this now requires stamina, which drains the bar. Once the basr runs out, no more sprinting for you!! However, the bar will refill over time. The team at Lucas Arts even implied new bacta tanks that allow for you to refill your stamina bar immediately. Also, a new addition that might make you happy is the ability to up-grade your weapons by acquiring certain awards in the game. Now,(the lights go out and epic music starts playing) the moment you've all been waiting for,(drumroll) YOU CAN PLAY AS JEDI!!!! Many of the fans are probably peeing their pants with joy at this point. Yes, you can play as Jedi.Period. Nothing more to say. Anyway, the Jedi addition is a fun distraction too. Four new additions now find their way to the battlefield for all the factions. Although I don't want to give anyhting away, let me tell you that they all kick butt!! Now, this is the part where MANY of the hardcore fans may be turned off. There are no more simple linear missions like in the first one. In the first BF, all you had to do was capture all the command posts or kill all the enemies. No more. Nope. Nada. Gone. Now the levels are all more mission based. Another thing is that there is no more campaign mode for the rebels OR the CIS. Overrall , many people should highly enjoy this game, but some of the early fans may be turned off by these additions.

Graphics-
What can I say except a HUGE improvement from the first one. The environments and characters are all more detailed and highly enjoyable just to look at. I only give it just an 8 because, compared to some of the games out there, this game can't compete. However, do't not buy this game just because of graphics.

Sound-
Great. Excellent. Beautifull. Crisp. The same tones from the original Star Wars are stil here, and so are the same sounds from the original. Two thumbs up to Lucas on that one.

Value-
As mentioned, the replay value isn't all that great, considerin ghow you can only play as the Republic and the Empire in missions mode. But, if that doesn't matter to you, or you have online, you'll be playing this game for a LONG TIME, just like me!!

Conclusion-
Overrall, BF2 is a highly enjoyable title that even Star Wars fans and non-fans of the original will love, as well as the old BF1 enjoyers will too. BUY IT. NOW.
