Avoid at all costs!

User Rating: 4.8 | Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles PS
There really isn't much to say about this game. It sucks, and you should not buy it under any circumstances. End of story. However, if you still have interest in buying this for some reason, I'll give a quick explanation of why this game is so bad.

Gameplay: Simple and boring are the words that come to mind. Attacking is extremely repetitive and 95% of the enemies are weak droids. Beating up on droids is kind of fun at first, but it gets old all too quickly. You will occasionally run into bosses, which are a lot tougher than the droids. It's not that the bosses are strong so much as it's way too difficult to hit the them without getting hit yourself. However, the absolute worst part of Jedi Power Battles is the platforming elements. Jumping from platform to platform can be almost impossible at times, mostly because of the abysmal camera. If there's one thing that frustrates me in video games, it's camera problems making basic things hard. The worst part of it is that Jedi Power Battles knows the camera is bad, and it throws platforming segments at you as a challenge because the camera makes it hard. If you die from missing a jump (which you often will while playing this game), you will have to reply a good portion of the level. I found that to be rather frustrating, and I would imagine that I'm not the only one who would be frustrated by that.

Graphics: Even compared to other PS1 games, the graphics are down right awful. I don't consider graphics to be all that important, especially when it comes to playing older games, but a line has to be drawn. The graphics are lazy and lack any detail. Combine that with the camera problems, and Jedi Power Battles is one ugly looking game.

I would go on with sound, value, and tilt, but I hope that this is enough to keep you from buying this game. I love Star Wars, and I bought this game for $10 new. Now I want both my $10 and 10 hours back...
