I started playing SWG during the beta phase, and enjoyed the game. When it went live, it was like any fledgling game thrown to the masses, but I recommended it. I played for a few month, but my heart remained in EverQuest where most of my friends were.

A few months ago I met some friends in EverQuest II and found out that they used to play SWG and still do on occasion. Having all-access, I created a character on their server and have been enjoying the game again. My friends were all full template jedi, some of whom earned jedi status on the old system. They had quit because of the lack of upper level play, and had come back in anticipation of the Obi-Wan expansion.

We were having a great deal of fun, then the NGE was announced. We've been playing on test, and quite a lot since release. I'm completely soured on the game. I had mastered TKA/Dancer during my time back and respeced to Jedi (I was planning on 'role-playing' a padawan to one of my friends).

I have to say that I doubt I will continue playing. Even after loosing half of my earned xp (only my combat levels converted) I could tolerate the poor game play if it still allowed for social interaction...but unless you use something like Team Speak or Ventrillo, you can not type while fighting.

I have to agree with another comment here. This game seems to be a huge beta test for a console version in the works.

In closing, the game that I recommended to people even though I did not play it is now a complete waste of money. Do not buy this game.
