When Games Go Bad! SOE's take on the Star Wars Galaxy and why they failed.
SWG had a good thing going for it. A moderate to complex leveling system based on experience and skills point trees. It offered an open job class system where players could choose a job and mix and match other parts of the classes as long as the player had enough skills points. Movement and combat were based on the Everquest II, World of Warcraft mouse clicking or using a keyboard. With the new combat system, movement has been regulated to the keyboard and mouse functions are solely for targeting and special ability activation. The user-friendliness of the game went out the door in favor of "fast more realistic" programming which has left veterans and new players reeling. Such things as auto-attack and target-lock are a thing of the past. The many jobs have been cut down to 9 "iconic professions".
For people looking to buy SWG, don't waste your money on a game that SOE doesn't give the same service to as its other games.
