Keep away!!

After 2+ years of fees and hundreds of hours spent learning a game, it's disheartening to see the entire game system scrapped and redone overnight. Enduring that leaves a player bitter.

When it happens a second time, a scant six months removed from the first, well it's a symptom of a game with a total lack of direction or vision. That's what SWG is. From a few months after SWG's launch, players were promised a Combat Upgrade to fix buggy professions and balance them. Long promised as a panacea, the CU finally went live some six months ago despite numerous problems and negative player feedback during the beta.

Rather than rework the changes the CU implemented, the NGE scrapped all existing professions, attempting to squeeze the most popular into nine "iconic" professions.

The game is still as buggy as ever, the changes are half-baked in many respects, and the lag is... well, worse than it's been in a long time despite the fact that, supposedly, much of the database clutter has been moved clientside with NGE to lighten server load. But that's not why SWG is getting horrid reviews - it's because whoever is in charge (SOE? LA? The hampsters powering the servers?) keeps changing their minds and asking players to relearn the game time and again. If you want to pay to beta test what should have been SWG2 for the PS3, then by all means, subscribe. Otherwise, stay away...
