Yes beleive the hype this game is beyond broken and beyond playable.
Here is the synopsis of the game. It is 2 and a half years old. It started as a very complex MMORPG. Very complex in that yes it would take you a year to be at the top of your game. Then the game went through a combat upgrade. This dumbed it down a bit. Was still playable but not as fun as the original system. Unless the original system was too much for you to handle. NGE the recent upgrade or downgrade whichever way you see it. MMO FPS and a very poor FPS at that. Now what do all these have in common the developer.
SOE has a poor track record. Bug fixes never come or come far too slowly. All incarnations had bugs many exploitable and it always will. Content once again outside of gameplay there just is not alot of content. To get new content you are required to buy expansions, and do not worry if you do not buy them you will be punished. Example someone will get a BFG to frag you with and have a huge edge. Most enviroments are generic and even dungeons get reused dozens of times. SOE also has a problem with lieing to customers. Nobody will deny this not even SOE who often trip over their own lies then have to fess up.
Whats the situation now. The game is very badly broken, and the premise for the moment is you buy you play for six months at which point they say they will actually have the game running at a semi playable state. Thats right you have to fork over 100 dollars just to get a playable game.
Save the money even if you have your heart set on this title you do not deserve to have to put a downpayment to one day get to play a who knows what kind of game. My suggestion is wait that six months and save money. If you want star wars buy kotor kotor 2 battlefront battlefront 2 rogue squadron series or even the old shadows of the empire a true classic. If you want a mmorpg try WoW CoV CoH or wait for one of the soon to arrive MMORPGs like dungeons and dragons online.
You want one last reason not to invest in this product. Here it goes SOE has managed to chase almost everyone out of this game and since it is broken nobody will stay. You will be left to play alone and that is not what a mmorpg is about.
