KOTOR is an amazing game. What else is there to say? KOTOR totally changes what we as gamers think of when somebody says Role-Playing Game. We used to think of playing a hero that saves the world no matter if he wants to or not. Now we think of open-ended plots and the opportunity to be a villian and be downright mean to innocent civilians. Knights of The Old Republic is way ahead of any other game of its time. Whenever you start a conversation with another character in the game, you commence to a small cutscene-ish view. Then you advance any way you with through a dialoge tree, with everything you say affecting the reply, and, in turn, affecting your next possible choices. If you are mean or nice enough to a person in the game, it will affect your alignment with the force, be it Light side or Dark side. The gameplay in KOTOR is very well done overall. The controls and feel of the game are different than we are used to, so natrally, you stink the first half hour of the game. After you get used to the controls, the gameplay becomes much easier. The combat in KOTOR is turn-based, which is uncommon now, but Knights of The Old Republic accomplishes this very well. The graphics in Knights of the Old Republic are good, but nothing amazing. The environments look good, but on certain levels, there large areas with confusing paths in which you can get lost very easily. The character models look good, but they could be improved on also. Your character actually changes throughout the course of the game based on your alignment to the force. If you are an evil Dark Side character, your player will get a sinister look on his face and will just look plain evil. If you are a heroic Light Side player, your character will stand up straighter and look more heroic. The sound in KOTOR is well done. Your lightsaber sounds just like they do in the movies, and lightsaber battles sound realistic. Unfortunately, in Knights of the Old Republic, your character does not speak a line in the entire game, not one. Everybody else that you see in the game has atleast something to say. Your party members all have something on their mind throughout the game. Knights of the Old Republic probably has one of the greatest replay values of any game on the market. Everything you say effects the game, even if only slightly. There are plenty of side quests to keep you busy for hours. Every party member that accompanies you has a small side quest that you can choose to complete, usually relating to their family or friends. Knights of the Old Republic is great for any gamer and it will easily keep you occupied for days at a time and you will still have side and sub quests that you haven't ever done before.
