The coolest star wars game ever made, and imo one of the most enjoyable space flight sims of all time.
The ships in the game start off as crap normal tie fighters but you work up to some of the coolest ships including the tie advanced, the tie defender, and missile and gunboats.
The larger npc ships are well designed and have independent modules and systems, and can be super entertaining to see this large boats duke it out. The fleets are well made and they give a good feeling of immersion even for an old dos game.
The storyline was top notch, with side quests that are challenging and entertaining. You encounter a variety of ship types and from different factions in the star wars world all from an imperialist perspective.
There is no up and no down in this game which i thought was very cool as most space sims since are still on a 2d plane. You can reroute power throughout your fighter just like previous xwing games, which adds dimension to the game.
The side missions are done with class as they come from a secret underground imperial cult, and you get cool tattoos running up and down your sleeve you hide under your clothes.
The combat itself is still one of my favorites, and some of teh scripting done to the npc ai puts todays stuff to shame.
I think this is my favorite game of all time. I cant think of anything that even comes close, or a base this game doesnt hit on. They just dont make em like this anymore.
