This is, to put it simply, the greatest video game ever created.
Cons - In multiplayer, Terrans are a bit too strong and zerg a bit too weak at release. The balance is only slightly off and likely to be noticed only by the hardcore.

It is frustrating to wait for Blizzard to release its games. It takes them years and years longer than other companies releasing titles in the same genre, and after a while you often wonder what could possibly be taking so long.
Once you play Starcraft 2, you won't wonder anymore. You can tell Blizzard took the time to make sure every aspect of this game was as perfect as they could make it before they released it. Even the little, inconsequential things scream perfection and attention to every detail.
I would normally write a nice long review for a game, but in this case it is not necessary. The only reason to not purchase this game is because you absolutely hate strategy games with a passion. There is no other excuse not to own it.
