Blizzard spared no expense in creating this genre re-defining game.

While westwood studios created RTS with the classic Dune 2, most gamers experienced RTS for the first time playing Blizzard's Warcraft Orcs vs Humans.

RTS is clearly in the blood of Blizzard and not only did they create a game worthy of the Starcraft name (the original still being played competitively 13 years later), but they have redefined what an RTS game can be.

Blizzard left no stone unturned in this, the mother of all sequels. The graphics, sound, technology, and matching system, are all vastly better than the original. But where Blizzard has pushed the bar so high that it will be difficult for other companies to follow with their RTS offering.

The campaign is a sight to behold. With characters and cut scenes more reminiscent of Dragon Age than an RTS, blizzard has shown us how base building, mineral gathering, and battles can be brought together with real meaning and purpose. Not only this, the campaign features branching story lines that determine the units you play the final missions with. Brilliant! Throw in bonus objectives leading to research points which lead to mutually exclusive upgrades tech upgrades, secret missions you can unlock, and you have a campaign that is replayable several times through. Brilliant!

The multiplayer is far beyond where Starcraft has been or other RTS games have gone. I have no doubt we'll be playing Starcraft II 13 years to come. The match making service lets people play battles against equal level opponents, removing the greatest barrier to online play: getting pawned by some twitch-kiddie who has nothing else to do. If you're amazing at SC2, you'll face top notch competitors. If you aren't, you'll also enjoy the thrill of a nail biting victory.

All in SC2 is the best RTS game made, with a production quality far beyond anything the company or others have created. I look forward to where Blizzard goes next with the franchise!
