In StarTropics you are on a tropical island (C-Island) and as Mike Jones you set out to search for your uncle, Dr. Jones who has been abducted while conducting an archaeological expidition. Armed with only a yo-yo (that's right you read it correctly a yo-yo) you set out to find your missing uncle. Along the way your perilous adventure brings you across many dangerous enemies and obstacles that you must overcome. Fear not, with the help of the local villagers and the Chief of the island, Chief Coralcola (great tropical name eh?) you discover clues that bring you closer to your uncle. There are of course many varieties of weapons that you find along the way (it would be unfair to restrict you to a measly yo-yo in this adventure) and using your wit and cunning you press on to locate your dear missing uncle in this action/adventure classic.
This game is just pure fun and adventure. You're on a tropical Island what more can you ask for? The graphics are not too shabby for an 8bit system, and the music is very upbeat and pleasant. The bosses you encounter are fairly amusing and challange you to some degree. Overall this game was entertaining and fun. If you're into just playing for the sheer joy of exploring and discover clues as you fight different creatures on a tropical Island then look no farther than StarTropics.
