Excalibur has produced something here that so many other developers have tried but just couldn't pull off. Twenty or thirty years from now, when a history of civil servant simulator games is written, Street Cleaning Simulator 2011 will merit an entire chapter. This is the gold standard by which all others will be measured. In fact, I won't be surprised if other developers check this out and just give up -- that's how badly SCS 2K11 will school them. We may never again see its like in this generation.
This game shook my soul. Not since Garbage Truck Simulator has a game grabbed me by the throat and ruled my every waking thought like this game has. The three different models of sweeper, the various types of refuse, the traffic, the pedestrians... The choices are endless. It's an immersive experience that challenges one's perception of society, the world and the universe.
The Revolution has arrived. And its name is SCS 2K11.
