Excellent portable 2D fighter.

User Rating: 8.9 | Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX PSP
I just want to add in my two cents on Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX. Modes and characters have been talked about a lot in other player reviews, so I'll just address a few other things.

First of all, if you don't like Street Fighter and/or if you don't like 2D fighters, then this game isn't for you. Also, if you're one of those who thinks 3D fighers "rules" and "owns" 2D fighters, then you really have no business reviewing this game.

I would say this game is dedicated to fans of Street Fighter and 2D fighters. A ton of your favorite old school characters are here.

Some people complain about the controls and a few complain about how it's so very hard to pull off the moves. It may be hard for THEM, but then these people might be the same people who don't like 2D fighters to begin with. The controls and moves worked FINE for me. I didn't need a special d-pad cover. All you have to do is adjust and you'll get the same moves you pulled off in the arcade or on the consoles.

If you still hate doing the quarter circle maneuvers, you can actually assign special moves and combos to the button controls. If you're gonna do this, you might as well have mommy hold your hand, but at least the option is there for those who think the moves are too hard.

I don't know why Gamespot gave the sound a rating of 7. The sounds are just fine. Graphics are beautiful along with everything else you loved about Street Fighter.

Yes, there are versions of this on consoles, but we're talking about a handheld version. So judge it as a handheld. And as far as portable fighting games go, there is no other that can compare.
