If you've read my SFIII 3rd Strike review, than you know how I feel about the first half of this collection.

User Rating: 9.4 | Street Fighter Anniversary Collection PS2
The fact that this collection includes a game that only released on the Dreamcast makes it worth a buy all on it's own, as Hyper Street Fighter II SFII The Animated Movie are like nice little bonus'. Read my SFIII 3rd Strike review to see what that part of the game is like, then come back and read the rest of this review, as it is exactly the same game as the original, period.
Hyper Street Fighter II The Anniversary Edition is sort of a compillation of all the Street Fighter II games in one, as you start off by choosing which version of the character you want to use from SuperT, Super, Turbo, Champ, and Normal, then you choose from the characters available in that version of SFII, then you fight 12 characters, the last of which being M. Bison of course. It seems interesting at first, but then you realize that this is basically Super Street Fighter II Turbo, but with the ability to choose different versions for the characters, which is pointless as you'll usually find yourself defenceless unless you choose SuperT mode, because the CPU always uses SuperT mode and is the hardest AI I've encountered in any 2D fighting game, trust me, even on the easiest mode. Something that really pissed me off about this game is the absence of the Bonus Stages. C'mon, Street Fighter II without Bonus Stages? Bull!!! Aside from that, the inclusion of the gallerey mode, which could have had so much more, is really nice touch, as it has the SFII Annimated movie, what's good about it is it's the same version as the original, I've got the original on VHS, and it's exactly the same, simply put for those of you who haven't seen it, this movie kicks and is a really great feature. Nonetheless, this game is a great collection for those of you who are hardcore fans, like myself, or even mildly into fighting games, as the inclusion of SFIII is definetly the best feature, and you'll find yourself playing that way more than HSFII or watching the movie, and the more you play, the more you'll enjoy it.
