Just because it's the "most revolutionary" fighting game ever doesn't mean it's that good.

User Rating: 4.7 | Street Fighter II' Plus: Champion Edition GEN
Note: I'm reviewing Street Fighter 2 in general. Any version of Street Fighter 2 applies to this review.

I'm actually kind of a Street Fighter fan but no matter how I try I just can't like this game. Read through this review to find out why.

Gameplay: At first glance the gameplay is exactly the same as in newer Street Fighter games but two things ruin it: Cheapness and slowness. If you're playing this on the Street Fighter Anniversary Collection you'll notice how much faster Street Fighter 3: Third Strike is. Your opponents are usually harder in older fighting games and this is no exception. They'll take advantage whenever they jumped over or blocked one of your attacks making them usually hard to beat. Ryu, Vega and Sagat are especially annoying to fight against. Ryu and Sagat will keep using their projectile moves non-stop until you get close enough to attack them. Vega is just fast and he craws on the cage in the background a lot. Aside from these big flaws the gameplay ain't too bad. Rating: 5/10

Graphics: Okay well some characters look weird. For example Ryu wears a handband but it's looks he's wearing them around his eyes when he's actually not. Also Sagat looks skinnier in this game than he does in other Street Fighter games. Aside from that the graphics are okay. Rating: 6/10

Sound: The best factor of this game. Some of the music is just addictive like the music in Guile's stage or Balrog's stage. But the hitting sounds are kind of lame. Rating: 8/10

Value: The reason I rated the value so high is because it will simply take you a long time to beat this game especially on higher difficulty levels. Oh and the bonus stages are fun too. For everything else just read through the Gameplay section. Rating: 6/10

Tilt: Overall this games flaws are too big to make this a good game in my opinion. If you really want to experience this game (if you haven't yet) then pick up Street Fighter Anniversary Collection for PS2 or XBox which includes Hyper Street Fighter 2, Street Fighter 3: Third Strike and a bonus Street Fighter 2: The Animated Movie.
