The highly anticipated 2-D fighter is here and its guranteed to take many hours of your life.
Graphics 10/10- as you know the old school street fighter games featured hand drawn backround and characters. Street Fighter IV features incredible 3-D backrounds and charcters but still manages to play like an old school 2-D fighter. The stages are unique and original, although some stages are just redecoations of previous stages such as beautiful Bay and old temple. But they are still impressive. Whenever you pull off an Ultra Combo your character will position himself and attack, usually ending in an impressive 3-D grand finale.
Controls and gameplay 9/10- The game plays like a classic 2-D fighter and familiar players will feel at home. its no different from the previous Street Fighter games. so theyre really isnt much to talk about. my rating for controls varries, if you are playing on a ps3 controller the controls are a 9/10. because with a ps3 controller it can be difficult to pull off all your moves. but if you own a fightstick these problems go away and they become easier to pull off, plus the game will have more of an arcade feel to it.
Story 8/10- the story is fairly good and features Anime like cutscenes, but like most 2-D fighting games the story is more like a filler. No one really cares about the story, and if you do well than enjoy. i personally only care about the actual gameplay.
Online 10/10- The online is awesome and brings back that arcade feel to the game. there are 3 types of online modes to play, player match, which is where you can play against characters and not earn battle points, ranked match where you fight people and DO earn battle ponts. and the other mode is where you are playing arcade mode and someone online can join your game, similiar to an actual arcade, and when you are done you just go back to your game.
Difficulty-8. the game features many difficulty settings to make it easier for beginners of the fighting genre. but that still makes the final Boss, Seth, extremely difficult. The difficulty of the final boss is the only complaint i have in the entire game, and as long as you practice this shouldnt be a problem
overall the game is absolutely amazing and sets high standards for all other fighting games to come
